4/5/10

The Big Su is starting to show signs of Spring Time. There are a few opening leads now. Ride with extreme cautionThe trail from Susitna Landing to Trapper Lake is fair but there are a few areas where the snow is gone.  The ravine is ok but bumpy. There is more ice in the ravine so heavy loads may cause difficulty getting up the ravine.

The trail from the Susitna Landing to the Deska is officially closed.  All stakes have been pulled for the season.

 3/22/10

The trail markers/stakes from Rabideau to Sheep Creek have been pulled for the season.  A small section of the Susitna Landing to Trapper Lake trail, on the river, has collapsed.  Vern was able to re-route and stake the trail.  It should be good for a couple more weeks.  Once you are on the river, ride with caution.

2/16/10

Trails from Susitna Landing to Trapper Lake, the Rabideau trail and to Deshka are being groomed throughout the week.  The trail from Half-way on Rabideau to Sheep Creek is completely in, groomed and staked.  You still need to take caution whenever you ride on the river.

Trail conditions are very good.

1/25/10

Vern is doing a good job maintaining the trails from Susitna Landing north to Rabideau. In addition, he has groomed and added more stakes and signs from Susitna Landing to the Deshka. However, you can still see and find open leads on the Big Su River.  Take extreme caution.

He reported this weekend that there is still an open lead on the Sheep Creek trail on the river. Take caution.

It is highly recommended that you stay on the marked trails when you are riding on the Big Su River.

1/11/10

NOTE: There is no gas available at Susitna Landing

The trail from Susitna Landing to Trapper Lake is well groomed and staked.  There are a lot of bumps so hauling supplies and gear will slow you down.

The trail from Rabideau to Sheep Creek is groomed and staked only to the river.  There is an open lead in the river so you will have to find another way around it to get to the other side.

As of this past weekend, the trail from Susitna Landing to the Deshka is now in.  I believe Vern, Bob and Kit staked the trail Sunday afternoon. Vern is planning on working on improving the trail this week.

12/13/09

The trail from Susitna Landing to Trapper lake was just completed today.  It has been groomed with some stakes. The trail is in pretty good shape with the ravine needing more snow but it is passable.  The trail from Rabideau to Trapper has been groomed and staked as well as the by-pass trail. The Neil Lake trail in also in, groomed and staked. Happy trail riding.
