AK State Sno-Trac Grooming Trails
| 01/03/12 | Happy New Year Everyone. This weekend temps were as low as -30 degrees. There was not much moving around. No update or status on trail grooming, except the SuLanding to Trapper Lake trail is in good condition. |
| 12/27/11 | After the 2 feet of snow that fell on the Susitna Valley, Vern was able to get out on the SuLanding to Trapper Lake trail and groom it once again. The trail is in good condition. Due to the deep snow, then the sub-zero temps, Rabideaux bypass was not groomed over the Holiday weekend but Vern is planning on working on it this week. The Rabideaux to Sheep Creek will have to be broken open again. No current report on it's current status as this time. The condition of the Rabideaux trail and Neil Lake trail is unknown at this time. The SuLanding to Desha is not in yet. I heard there were still some open leads so it's not safe enough to break trail yet. |
| 12/19/11 | The SuLanding to Trapper Lake trail is well groomed and staked. It is a smooth riding trail now, just in time for the holiday season riding. Enjoy and ride responsibly. The trail from the SuLanding to Desha is not in yet. The trail off of Rabideaux to Sheep Creek is in it's beginning stages of being put in and staked. I don't know the actual condition of the trail at this time but I don't believe it is in all the way from Rabideaux to the highway yet. The Rabideaux trail is in and staked but Vern said it is still pretty rutted due to the warming temps of the storm a couple weeks ago. |
| 12/6/11 | The short trail from the Susitna Landing to Trapper Lake is in but no snow and extremely rough. The warm weather and rain pretty much messed it up. The ravine has a couple of mud holes that froze over on Tuesday with an additional two smaller holds near the bottom of the ravine. The river was pretty much frozen ice and rough. The sandbars still had some snow on the trail. It is not recommended for pulling sleds if anyone wants to even try the trail. You might want to call Jeff at the Susitna Landing or the trail master, Vern Epps if you are thinking about going out to Trapper Lake by the short trail this coming weekend. The long trail was groomed and staked but after last weekend, the Rabideaux trail in uncertain. |
